The lyrics of Makhdoom Mohiuddin, in one of Muzaffar Ali's (the man who gave us Umrao Jaan) classics, Gaman (1979), are timeless. Here's the lyrics of the track, which was used by Ahmed Jahanzeb for his track, Aap Ki Yaad, as well.
The original song is put to music beautifully by Jaidev. What's curious about it, is that the song goes percussion less for nearly two minutes, before the rhythm and instrumentation begin. Lilting vocals by Chaya Ganguli, in an offbeat movie featuring Smita Patil.
