Aklo hosh nami daanam
Just in case any of you others have been daunted by this one. Its a Farsi line that found its way into the song, "Deewangi" from OSO. And it means, "No one has any wits left".
And before you ask, the next-to-next line is "Na koi rehsang, naa rehbar" (There's no guide or leader)
Why? Why would a lyricist incorporate random Farsi words in the midst of a Hindi song picturized on one of the largest Bollywood party sequences in history, with very little to do with Ahmedinejad's world?
I guess Monsieur J. Akhtar was pulling a Gulzar on us.

Aql-o-hosh na mi danam literally means "I don't know what sense is"
aql-o-hosh = sense
danam = I know
Also, rahzan = Highway robber (one who robs on the way) and rahbar = guide (one who shows the way)
FINALLY! I was racking my brains over and over to figure out what the hell that line was and could possibly mean. Why would Mr Akhtar use this line in a Bollywood song? Why? It boggles the mind.
And why does it matter if you are a highway robber or a guide? We're talking about deewangi at a party. Party fever. Not a highway. BIZARRO.

Thanks a mil guys! Thats why blogs work! I was like what is this crazy line?! Javed Akhtar really has no business teasing us like this! Really! I mean it starts itching inside our heads and we start trawling the internet for answers which are difficult to come by! But then there are guys like you who help stop the itching... :) The lest Farah Khan could do is post the lyrics on some official website with literary comments from Javed bhai.
With Gulzar it could have worse.

Movie name Om Shanti Om but the lyrics are arabic/farsi. He could have gone with simple 'Ab to hosh nhi janam' or some other south indian language but he had to impose islamic language.
Well said. The bollywood has always inserted islamic thoughts as much as possible in dialogues and lyrics, If not a conspiracy, what else it is.
There is nothing religious about it and Persian language or Farsi was the lingua-franca as Persia was also a world power at one time. - (It's just that simple. -- mother Earth is one family)
